Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administrative Duties Develop goals and plans for the department Plan and execute projects Prepare annual budget Solicit quotes and prices for materials purchased Schedule crew assignments Maintain work record and time worked for employees and prepare reports Oversee field and office personnel Supervise installation and maintenance of landscape and irrigation projects, and materials if necessary Serve as a representative of the department at various local and state meetings.
Sign and create all purchase orders.
Verify all invoices and purchase orders have been turned into the City Clerk's office in a timely manner including athletic officials.
Help the Senior Citizens.
Develop an aerobic exercise program that will help them to keep active at both east and west Amory.
Help them and participants with the planning an outing once a month.
Book events for them such as having someone come in to take blood pressure, special occasion programs, etc.
Assist the Secretary Collect money and give receipts for events taking place in city buildings Book calendar events for East Amory and West Amory Community Centers Assist with AVSDA parent group Assist with senior citizen's activities Book calendar events for all city playgrounds Oversee baseball, softball and t-ball Handle all paper work pertaining to these sports along with soccer and flag football Custodial and Maintenance Paint the lines on the ball fields Spray grass and winterize Re-sod grass Monitor irrigation Repair automatic sprinkling system Perform landscape construction function Operate a tractor Operate a mower Janitorial Work at the Community Center Sweep Buff floors Clean bathrooms Empty Trash Perform other duties as directed Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge Data collection and data entry Setting up a budget Landscaping Layout of ball fields OSHA standards and regulations concerning employee safety Federal and state statutes concerning employee safety Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication State statutes & city ordinances Must know how to communicate with a diverse group of people General functions and operations of municipal government Skills and Abilities Collection of money/receipting of money Calendar information Aerobics exercise Work as a team member with other employees Meet specified or required deadlines Make decisions within specified time restraints Communicate effectively with residents, elected officials, other City employees, etc.

Job Context The Director is a full-time, permanent position in the Parks and Recreation Department.
The immediate supervisor for this position is the Mayor.
This person is supervised daily and supervises multiple full-time and part-time personnel.
The director works flexible hours, year round.
The position works more than the regularly scheduled hours on a regular basis and requires night work on a regular basis.
The person in this position never does shift work and is always on call.
50% of the work is indoors.
The position has accountability for monetary, fiscal budgetary, safety, and legal issues related to the work for which this position is responsible.
There is daily exposure to chemicals and/or hazardous materials such as cleaning agents and asbestos.
One must have a driver's license, a bachelor's degree and a high school diploma or GED to fill this position and must be bondable.
The stress level for the Director is high.
The physical work expected from a person varies from setting up tables and chairs to mowing and weed eating the ball fields.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to walk.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.

Duties:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of parks and recreation operations - Develop and implement park maintenance plans, including mowing, landscaping, tree trimming, and hardscape maintenance - Coordinate and supervise park staff in performing groundskeeping tasks, such as irrigation, tree care, and general maintenance - Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper use of power tools and hand tools - Collaborate with other departments to plan and execute park improvement projects - Manage budgets and resources effectively to maintain park facilities - Develop and maintain positive relationships with community members, stakeholders, and vendors - Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in parks and recreation management
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management or related field (preferred) - Proven experience in managing parks or similar outdoor facilities - Strong knowledge of groundskeeping practices, including tree care, landscaping, and hardscape maintenance - Familiarity with operating power tools and hand tools safely - Excellent leadership and communication skills - Ability to effectively manage staff and prioritize tasks - Knowledge of budgeting principles and financial management This position offers a competitive salary based on experience.
